Med School
I m pretty buzz right now.. n I am thinking abt smth I have been thinking for years. I have gotten into med school even b4 I came to NUS.. due to various reasons... I chose not to n went to NUS SCience. Things have been good n bad... i did not replicate what i did in A'level n did not really do that great in NUS. But it does make me think again on what I should do next in my life.. GRad school for sure.. but which one.. it is kinda like the same junction that I faced 3 years back. When I have to decide whether to go to Med school smwhere else or come to NUS.. I chose the easy decision by staying in Singapore.. It was not all bad.. I had some great time.. met some ppl that I worked with in 26th MC that I would not forget.. though we havent been keeping in touch. I am amazed myself how I could cope with so many things in my yr 1 in NUS.. Thanks to Science Club - I met Sab (an English Major) - what can I say.. I have hurt u but u will definitely stay as part of the best memory i have in life.. n of course BY.. You simply amazes me.. I love u gal - I cant wait to see u again.. you have been the best gf ever - i think i gave u an award for that =) what can i ask for.. It's amazing I juz love u more as days go by... I dont like NUS - the school ; but i definitely love the pple I met n hung out with. College is definitely not as fun in Singapore - but for me - it was kinda more purposeful. But now it's time for me to make decision of the next step soon. Basically, it goes back to passion n money n life. As a 22 yr old, i think i can make a better decision than i do 3 yrs back.. i think that;s the most impt thing I have gained in college. everybody - i m gonna take my MCAT soon n hopefully i would get what i really wanted. i nv really make wishes. This is prob the 3rd or 4th wish I make in my life n i hope it would works out like b4.

It is spring now.. n the beaches in Orange county have juz become 'better' I shld be heading to the beaches pretty often for the next few weekends and I juz cant say no to the feeling of swimming in the Pacific Ocean. It is simply amazing.

haha, was talking to cuiting n she told me i nv update my blog for 2 weeks alrd. so decided to write something.
yeah i m going to snowboard again tmr. the 2nd time. i think i m getting addicted to it. it's so much fun. things are looking really good for me. 1st. I got jobs here in US, kinda helped me financially. n of course i m enjoying myself. better still one of it is actually a lab job, n even better it is a cancer research lab but i could actually work w 2 organic chemists. looking back, i think i made quite a lot of good decisions. it was tough but i think it will worth it. Now some highlights in my CV:
1. Chem Sci Prog
2. Double Major
3. UROPS
4. SEP in US
5. 3 YRS of Lab experience in 4 yrs of undergrad!!! (1 yr UROP, 1 YR research assistant in UCI and 1 yr honors), even i m amazed
6. Possible intern in Biopolis (Martin juz told me abt it. not confirmed)
Well, my CAP really is not that great but honestly i think this portfolio would ultimately help me. Oh yah. why m i talking so much abt academic? cuz martin juz accepted me as one of his 3 honors student! haha.. can tell i m excited abt it cuz it's not easy to get into his lab. He told me he usually take students who are potentially 1st class honors.

Alright ppl!
Alright ppl. This is what I did this weekend.
First I went down to San Diego for my shit ass tournament which I played badly. I dont really want to talk abt it right now... and yah.. came back from san diego.
Den I went down to Commerce Casino nearby. Wosh.. It was cool. Not the first time in a casino but a first time legit for actually gambling. Played poker (show 'em) for 10+ hours from 430pm to 3am. It was really nice a fun. I would say I am a pretty smart gambler for the first time. prepared like 200 for the day so it was like sometime winning 200+ sometime losing 150 or so.. The last hand was legit but i lost.. well.. lost 60 bucks.. i prob gave more than 100 bucks worth of tips during this time.. typically i tip 1 buck for small pot and 2 to 4 bucks for large pot... so I still think it was a good day... alot of fun ... tired n drove back to sleep.
Went snowboarding n just came back w bruises n all. Well.. I thought it's gonna be easy to pick up but I was sooo wrong.. the first 1-2 hr was shitty like hell for me... my gosh... anw... My roommate who is a really season skiier as well as snowboarder helped me up alot and I actually really enjoyed my last 3 runs today.. I will try to go every 2 week cuz I really love this game.. Not to brag abt this, after I got the hang of it.. I was actually doing pretty well... You wont tell that I am a beginner at all if you compare me w all the rest of the ppl.. That's legit!
That's it.. I was enjoying so much I forgot to take any pics.. heck the pics.. the experience is so much better.

quite some time
ok it's been quite some time since i last blogged. I wonder who actually read this anw
I am canceling my Skiing trip for no apparent reason. well.. wadeva
But I should be going canyoning trip next week., Hopefully dont screw up again. Then the following week I ll be taking part in San Diego Badminton tournament "Freeman". Playing in B and C Singles. Nice thing in UCI badminton team is that we actually got 2 US national players here with us. And I can see they are pretty good. I hope I can at least get back my strokes and prob play better when i m back. Strained my calf couple days back.. hurting more now.
Well. I m STILL too lazy to get the photos uploaded.. lol
ok decided i shld juz upload some photo of myself after a hair cut by my roommie

Beer pong!
After posting so many posts, how can I miss this. BEER PONG! Many have heard before, some nv, what a shame. I did and guess what I have played this shit couple days back. If you don't know this game, please make an effort to click on this link. Any 16 yr old in US would know this game and well, I felt that this game shouldn't juz stay in the US. I would rally guys out there in the tiny island called Singapore to play this too.. (no offense meant)

After really reading throug wikipedia I realized it get really too technical. Well... there are really some techniques and special rules involved but mostly it depends on the house. HOUSE RULE they call it.
What you need:
1. BEER (lots of it)
2. 20 Cups (10 on each end)
3. Long table or bench
4. 2 ping pongs
5. 2 cups of clean water, one on each side to clean ping pong balls
How to play.
1 vs 1
each player got 2 balls. aim at the cups in opposite end and try to get the ball in the cup. 4 senarios possible:
1:
got 1 ball in a cup - take the ball out - 2nd throw (missed) - opp player drink the cup that got the ball - opponent's turn to throw
2:
got 1 ball in a cup - take the ball out - 2nd throw got into the same cup - opp player drink the cup plus another 2 cups (total 3 cups!) - You get another chance to throw the 2 balls (If you cont to do this, you can end the game really fast! )
3:
Got 1 ball in a cup - take the ball out - 2nd throw got into another cup - opp player drink 2 cups (the 2 that got the balls) - You get another chance to throw the 2 balls as well!
4:
You miss both balls (c'mon dude.. practice more) - opp's turn
5: (special)
You bounce the ball on the table on got the ball in a cup - opp drink 2 cups instead of 1 -
*However, if you actually use bounce instead of normal throw, opponent can slap the ball away, WITHOUT obstructing the way of projection of the ball. (well it get interesting n technical here)
**Other rules on top applies

No obstruction of the ball or touching the cups while opponent is throwing.
You can distract opponent by all means w/o physical contact
You get to call for re-rack of your opponent's cups twice in the game. The cups are initially arranged in a diamond (just like billiard) to maximize chances.
Your elbow need to be behind the table edge at all times.
For 2 vs 2: One player throw one ball instead of 2. All other rules applies.
Common people. let's play this game. It gets really fun when you get the hang of it. Btw, the beer had to be drank immediately after the 2 throws, which well definitely give you a harder time to aim for the next shot.

good news
sorry for not posting for quite some time.. i donno who is reading anw..
I got a position in an Organic Chemistry Lab, this will definitely add a good line on my resume before I finish my undergraduate studies. Interestingly, they are interested in me because they were impressed with my resume. This really shows how important a good resume is. I am glad I worked hard to get that. More so, this will be exactly the field that I want to go into as it is working on synthesis of a drug target to inhibit cancer cells. The compounds they are working on now have good potential of inhibiting breast cancer cells, leukemia, intestinal cancers, lung cancers and probably a whole lot more. It really excites me that I am going to work there soon, probably starting next week. I am not sure if I will be paid for my work though, I hope they do.
Well, I am not just here to "expand my academic horizon" only. I went down to LA with another 4 exchange students in the long weekend (Monday was Martin Luther King Day, if you don't know who he is, check American History text. Ha). Went to LA downtown, and Hollywood once more. Interestingly, there was this guy who was arrested in the center of Hollywood for deploying a bag, suspected with bomb. He was arrested and handcuffed and crowd were separated from the area. Soon after, LAPD's chopppers were circling on top of the area and probably ard 20 police cars were there. It was really tense. I have nv seen such scenario before and I think it was really an experience. The stand off took about 20 minutes and the bomb squad arrived to handle the bag. Well, fortunately (a little disappointingly for me), it was actually a hoax and everything was back to normal. But this thing really shows how effective LAPD is and they are really good at their job.
Oh yah.. I have some photos.. but really lazy to upload now.. will upload in a couple of days time.

1st day of work
yah as mentioned i got a job. working in sports complex. guess wad i juz had my 1st day of work n I painted the soccerfield. lol Frankly speaking, nv seen how it was done before so I always thought they either spray pain or hand paint it, which is not really true.. it was done using a machine which sprays the paint. well.. it's a dirty job.. but quite fun.

I am unlucky cuz i m stuck w my stupid F&N before the drop. but yah for those who are not vested and have cash i have a few suggestions.. no hard values as I don't rem it myself, check it out before you buy,., caveat
1. Inter-roller - BUY (~53cent) Super good deal if you can get below 50cents, which may happen at this market sentiment. hold long enough you will see a dollar again. This company has great potential due to the up and coming aviation industries. check it's NAV and past PE records you will understand..
2. Semb Corp - BUY (~5.00) GOOD BUY (<5) This is a big conglomerate.. check the record and you will know why. it has been sluggish due to the sell down.. and partly due to daughter semb marrine. but fundamentally good. could be heading to 7 after this round sell down. i was vested at 5 bucks before n sold at 6 bucks. would ask my dad to go for this.
3. Semb Marrine - BUY (~3.7) GOOD BUY (3.5) This is another good stock as long as it stays out of FOREX. Shot up so high. even at this price it is >50% up from 2007 feb. After splitting i think it actually went to ard 5.5 n hit by scandal.
4. Keppel Corp - BUY (~12) if this ever come to 12 bucks or below you know where to park ur money. biggest shipping player in the world. nv fail stock
5. Jurong Tech - BUY (<40cents) the company is still doing it's usual biz but strangely enough it has been sold down so badly. heard that a fund is collecting this stock n hopefully it will be rallying up soon. but really hard to say.. i was thinking of buying at 65cent but now it's 40. I wonder how low it can go but it's almost smaller than it's NAV alrd. but at real low price like this, hold long enough u see sunshine
6. other counters i believe in - SPH, Sintel, SIA (below 14, if ever), Capital Land (really good price now.. but could go a little lower, property boom has juz got started.. so you see why it's a good price now)
basically i still believe in oil play.. so shipping of course. it should stay at high prices for some time... up n coming should be aviation n property. Other than that I will look at fundamentally well stock which can give u shelter such as singtel, SPH. THis sell down can prob touch ard 3050 or even 2950. but in a week or 2 will be chinese new year rally. so it's really good time to make some ang pau money if u want to. I am really so sad that I am out of these cuz mine is stuck at F&N. caveat!

Job
getting a job soon. on campus at the sports centre. things include admin, organizing activities, tournaments, ref etc. sometimes have to do some water changing of swimming pool or grass trimming. but i think it's pretty cool though, did my paper work n hopefully can start next week. need money to travel man
oh yah.. the min pay in california by law is USD7 or USD 7.5 per hour. my jon is either 8 or 9 depends on the nature. which is pretty good compare to singapore. but well u gotta know that college grad here generally get 5000-8000 USD starting pay. and much more for masters/phD or management position. so well.. it's really what they call "THE AMERICAN DREAM!" i think.. but u gotta work pretty hard...

san francisco
hi all...
I m now at san francisco... booked a flight from LA to san francisco...
donno it's suay or lucky... i got in the midst of thunder storm in california... a lot of the flights well cancelled... hundreds.. or i should say.. thousands of people were left stranded in airports ard california... well.. how would i know this.. cuz i m also one of them.. well... luckly enough... mine wasn't cancelled... but... 9.05pm flight were delayed til 1130pm.. i were doing basically from nothing to everything in the small airport terminal for hours... well.. it's the first time i experience this though.. i meant.. we always see on the news about flights got delayed... cancelled etc on TV rite... well this time round i m in it.. you can see people yelling at the customer services.. people calling friends and relative... people making last minute travel plans... people cancelling their hotel oversea... people simply get themselve drunk in the bar... all sorts of things... ok enough said..
anw.. on another note... i really love this country... eg1. You walk into a bus in singapore alone... a journey of 45 minutes... I will bet 50 bucks that you won't speak a word to anybody... and now.. I walk into a bus in Orange county, California. "hi dude, how're u doing man." said the bus driver. "Damn freaking cold night man, never seen a thunderstorm like this for ages.", "Have a nice day!" No matter you are black, white, yellow, grey or even red or blue... everybody you meet on the street would give you a friendly smile and most often than not speak a word or two. I was on this bus from UCI to my apartment. It took only 5-8min but I was actually talking to the driver about how expensive housing in Orange county is... This is humanity... and it really makes me feel good about this place... at least in california..
ok enough said.. Sorry all.. i m in my uncle's place.. so not photos to be uploaded this time... will do in the next few days... School starting soon.. !

NYE
went to NewPort Beach on NYE... but not overnight.. juz went there to take a look..
Always being in Singapore for years.. you don really get to know abt how an OCEAN look like..
and now i m in california... it has i think one of the longest coastline in the world.... well... simply said.. it's LONG... well... i ll hit to the beach quite often i guess..
